Okay machine but has a RAM bottleneck right out of the box with only 16GB of RAM. That is just enough for office work under windows 11. I had to upgrade this machine to 32GB of RAM to make it functional as a reasonable high performance machine. (Max for the machine is 64 GB) This seems to be a running issue with most windows 11 machines. RAM that was factory installed was higher frequency than this machine can use. Factory installed is 5600 Mhz when max spec is 4800 Mhz. (System will automatically cap speed to 4800Mhz) (star removed for out of the box performance issue)
Battery life is good for a high power machine and you can easily tune down the machine for battery life.
Due to being a packet style battery, the smart charge function should be enabled as these batteries have the longest life when only charged to 80%
As stated in the title, Best Buy is flat lying about the RGB keyboard. This model NEVER had an RGB keyboard and Best Buy made this false spec up and never fixed the issue of it falsely saying it has an RGB keyboard. Best Buy knowingly falsely advertised this laptop as this issue was brought up in the early reviews of this laptop. (Star deduction for false advertisement)
This is a good machine to build off of but,
I would expect to have to upgrade this out of the box. Keep that in mind if you are thinking about getting it. Never pay more than $800 for this unit. (Not worth it with the needed upgrades beyond that and it goes on sale regularly)

Excellent build quality with minimal flex. The screen leaves a little to be desired, but for price what do ya expect? The 7700s gpu included supports frame generation in certain games such as silent hill 2 remaster . On quality settings I went from 70-80, after enabling frame generation it was averaging 100-125, full resolution. The laptop did run a little hot at around 92c, but I was not in an ideal environment. Ram and storage are easily upgradable, and there’s an extra slot for NVME storage. If you can get this laptop on sale, it is well worth the price.

I’ve had a lot of gaming laptops in the past 5 years and I’ll admit I did take about a year off from gaming so this is the first one I’ve bought since my hiatus. I’ll get straight to the point and give you a brief summary of my thoughts on the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 Laptop. Later, I’ll give you a little more detail for those who are interested.
The laptop has a 16″ 165Hz screen and a really polished design. It’s about 14x10x1 so it’s slim and lightweight. There’s almost no keyboard flex, adequate cooling vents, and a nicely thought out keyboard layout. It has an all AMD setup. I ran the computer through multiple benchmark tests and games, and it ran through all without a hitch. The computer is more powerful than I expected. There are 2 memory slots and 2 m.2 slots for an extra SSD. The FPS and temps were stable, cooling was adequate even when I pushed it. I believe the advantage here with AMD is the efficiency. It keeps the temperatures low and the battery charged. I’ve used Armoury Crate in the past and had issues like most, but this time I had absolutely no problems and I loved the interface and options available. I would advise you to try it out first before you listen to anyone telling you to uninstall or use something else.
    Gaming
I ran Cyberpunk 2077 in Ultra Graphics and I was hitting between 80 and 90 with cars and people everywhere, and as high as 90 to 100 FPS in less busy scenes. CPU temps were 78 to 84 and GPU ran about 68 to 73 degrees. This was Ultra Graphics, with Armoury crate set to Turbo Mode for maximum performance.
I ran A Plague Tale: Requiem in Ultra mode too because I heard it’s a graphically intensive game. It ran between 60 and 65 FPS in Ultra, CPU temp was around 73 and GPU peaked at 74 degrees.
I didn’t know much about the 7700s before purchasing. I’ve previously had the 6700m (MSI Delta great little machine BTW) and the 6800m (Asus A15 advantage) and I do realize that they have one Asus laptop out currently with the 7600s. The easiest comparison to me is to jump on 3DMark and get a Firestrike Graphics score for DX11 followed by TimeSpy Graphics for Dx12. This gives me an idea of the graphics power. The DX12 TimeSpy Graphics score was right there slightly below a 3070ti and right above a 4060. The 7700s on Turbo Mode (armoury crate) scored an impressive 10,357 (turbo mode) on Time Spy Graphics. For comparison a 3070ti scored a 10,462. A 4060 is right below the 7700s at 10,299. A 3080 only scores a 10,836. A 4070 scores a 11,957 so as you can see it’s more of a 4060 than a 4070. Firestrike which guages DX11 performance (older games), it scored a combined score of 25,569 (and a very impressive 29,652 graphics score. In Firestrike Graphics, it would tie with a 4070, and beat a 4060, 3070ti, 3080,and 7600s, but we are talking DX11 here too. I’ll give you an idea of the power of this machine. A couple years ago I had an Alienware with a 2080 Super that I loved and it scored right around 9155 on TimeSpy and 20000 on firestrike so this laptop blows that out of the water.
The AMD 7735 HS 8 core processor draws 35 watts of power. It has a clock speed of about 5GHz, 8 physical cores and 16 logical cores built on the 6nm tech. I scored a 12716 on MultiCore and 1477 on SingleCore. It gets the job done without any lag.
The keyboard feels like your typical gaming keyboard, nothing special, no RGB, white backlit that offers 3 modes: solid, strobe, and breathing. I do really like the 4 keys at the top left of the keyboard on a little island, that give me access to volume, mic and a hotkey for armoury crate. There are a set of number keys as well with a small calculator on enter, available with the function key. The F1 through F12 have the usual useful options but a few unique ones as well where you can quick switch the performance mode, change keyboard brightness or pull up the aura menu.
The battery is 90 watts with a 280 watt power supply. The battery last about 4 hours, it does switch you over to silent mode when you’re running in battery. I wouldn’t recommend gaming on any laptop without being plugged in because it will drain fast and performance will suffer. There are silent and eco modes if you’re just doing basic web browsing, watching a movie, schoolwork, or anything that doesn’t require performance or cooling.
All of your ports are covered. There’s a USB-C that will allow up to 100 watts and also a USB-C for Display Port hookup to an external monitor. I hooked it up to my 34″ monitor and it worked great. You can use your Fn+F9 key to set to 2nd Monitor only. There is an HDMI 2.1 port and RJ-45 port for ethernet/network cables and a 3.5mm headphone jack if needed. There is also one USB 3.2 Type A port on the left, and one on the right (for your gaming mouse or peripheral)
The CPU temps idle around low 50s, while GPU idles around 45 in Turbo mode, slightly higher on performance mode. When you’re gaming the bottom half of the laptop from the spacebar down is cool, while keyboard and top half can get a little hotter, but this is fairly typical for gaming laptops.
The back was fairly easy to remove and you can see the efficient cooling system all the way down to the memory and M.2. cards which are insulated nicely. The memory is Samsung DDR5 4800 so it’s really fast. The wifi 6 is standard, and you’ll see about 6 cooling vents. They did well with the cooling here for a gaming computer although Lenovo still does that particularly well.
You have a 16″ 165hZ WUXGA IPS monitor that you can v-sync if you would like. Even though it’s 300 nits it’s absolutely bright enough unless you walk out into the sun. I’ve had a 500 nit monitor and 300 nits is all you need when gaming indoors. The only distinct difference I’ve seen on a laptop is when I had the 400 nit 4K LED monitor, and you don’t want to game on the 4K LED 60Hz.
The webcam is your basic 720p webcam, nothing special but it does the job. It takes photos and videos with options on resolution and timers if you’re taking a photo. It does have an array mic so you should be sounding good too.
External speaker Sound is good, no distortion, although external speakers have no bass. I would always recommend using headphones if you can.
For the price class this is an exceptional value, it runs cooler than my other Asus with an Intel 12700 and Nvidia 4070, and is also a little bit more stable with FPS. It has the graphics power to run any AAA title and most of them in ultra. The design of this computer was well thought out giving you the ports you need, the monitor, high refresh rate, an exceptional CPU and graphics card, a thoughtfully designed keyboard, no bloatware (MyAsus and Armoury crate or the only add-ons and they’re actually useful.) You can’t beat the value of this laptop and you will also be surprised by the build quality. ASUS TUF line has come a long way. I would highly recommend to anyone that wants a high performance machine on a budget. AMD has entered the race.

Awesome laptop! Got this as a gift for my son as his old computer was outdated. This runs his games great and high FPS. The fans do run loud when gaming may want to get a cooler to set laptop on (and maybe headphones so you don’t hear the fans). This laptop exceeded my expectations and the price was reasonable. I would recommend this laptop to someone in the market for a new computer!

Solid battery life out of the box and so far have played some modern games including Jedi Survivor with high settings at very smooth rates. The IGPU makes it a good option for someone looking for solid mid-range gaming and a work laptop that can do 5+ hours of non-gaming activity away from an outlet. Nice big screen too for those with bad eyes like me.
It is bulky and heavy and the power brick is massive so not very portable and gets pretty hot unless you prop it up for better fan cooling. Wish it had better SSD storage too.

This is my first gaming laptop after using a mid-to-highend custom build PC for years, and I’m enjoying it after getting it on sale for $650. Feel like I really got a steal during Black Friday! It runs well, only had one issue with freezing while trying to take a screenshot during Balatro. But I’ve run a number of other games on it—Enshrouded, Octopath Traveler, and Nine Sols—and they all run really well. Battery life when gaming is pretty abysmal, about an hour, but I don’t use it unplugged most of the time anyways.
Fan can get loud when running games, but that’s to be expected. Same with charger getting fairly hot. Last small, but nitpicky complaint is the color and material of the laptop can pick up fingerprints pretty easily (pic included). It can be cleaned, but just something to be aware of.
Visuals are gorgeous and games run very smooth. Audio is mid, but if you’re PC gaming you’ll probably have some better headphones anyways.
All in all, I’d recommend purchasing this, especially if you can get it on sale like I did.

If you’ve been gaming on console and are thinking about making the leap into PC gaming, I highly recommend checking out the ASUS A16. After doing my research on the best bang for your buck and comparing it to building my own rig, I stumbled upon this gem on sale at Best Buy – and let me tell you, I couldn’t resist!
For the past year, I had been using a laptop for work and got comfortable with its overall feel and how well it integrated into my desk setup. So, when it came time to find a gaming laptop, I knew I needed something that could deliver power and performance without sacrificing that same convenience.
Enter the ASUS A16. Not only does it handle all my favorite games on high settings with ease (some even on ULTRA!), but it’s also perfect for multitasking. I’ve recently started streaming, and using this as my second screen has been a game-changer — no need to buy an extra monitor!
If you’re on the hunt for a gaming laptop that delivers incredible performance and lets you seamlessly juggle gaming, streaming, and multitasking, the ASUS A16 is definitely worth considering!

Ok, I’m not going to try and not cover too much that wasn’t covered already. Looks wise this laptop looks sharp, very subtle and can pass for a business laptop while still looking cool for gaming. The keyboard is easy and comfortable to type on and I like that it has a full number pad. I recently was in the process of upgrading my computers to all AMD and getting away from intel+nvidia. This is one of the only laptop options I saw that came with an AMD processor and AMD graphics. After booting up I noticed there was limited bloatware and limited updates needed which was cool. I picked up this laptop on a back to school deal for $750 and I actually grabbed an open box excellent condition model for $700 so it was a great bang for the buck. I am upgrading from a lenovo slim with Intel 370m gpu. That graphics card couldn’t handle any gaming whatsoever, i would constantly crash out so I traded it in for this laptop and I am very impressed for the price. I would not pay $1100 for this but $900 or less this is great. The reason why I do not think it is worth $1100. The SSD is really small. I only downloaded 3 games and I’m currently left with only 174 gb of free storage, I will an another SSD but there’s an extra expense. Next is the RAM. While 16gb of RAM is great for most, I do notice a difference between 16gb and 32gb so there’s an extra expense. My last complaint is that the WiFi card can not seem to pick up the WiFi 6 connection in my house. I played around with it for a while and am giving up and just upgrading the wifi card so there’s another expense. I feel like I got an amazing price, a great product on an open box and this laptop is a perfect laptop for AMD loyalists. I played spiderman and read dead redemption 2 on it and averaged 90 FPS and 120 FPS respectively on HIGH settings, before I upgraded the RAM to 32gb. I haven’t opened up the laptop yet but from what i’ve read there is 2 m.2 slots and 2 RAM slots which is AWESOME news. Totally satisfied and as long as your someone that can handle an easy m.2 install I think you will love this laptop too. PS the battery life is really good while unplugged. Spent a few nights web browsing for hours and didn’t have to worry about my battery. I
