If you’re looking for a 49” ultrawide and buying it for gaming I don’t think there is a better option as of right now.
I am surprised at how much I have enjoyed this monitor for work, specifically since I use MacOS and text clarity/fringing on OLED screens is notoriously bad. I downloaded an app called “Better Display” that let me zoom in the resolution a bit so it’s readable and clear. I would compare the clarity on this setting to a 32” 1440p.
For some, the text clarity will not be good enough as a primary daily driver as it is noticeable in comparison to a higher resolution display that is not OLED. It is certainly noticeable in comparison to my MacBook Pro and I had to also play with the monitor “sharpness” settings. However, I am fairly picky with my monitors and I’m really pleased with it.
The colors are vibrant and excellent. I have not found any issues with brightness being too low or reflections being distracting, even during the daytime.
And an underrated part is the 240hz refresh rate makes everything incredibly snappy and quick. I have tried a Dell 49” at 60hz and it felt way too slow in comparison.
Would recommend for gaming and also work if you consider the tweaks/concessions I mentioned above. It’s not for everybody but really great for the right use case.

Solid 49″ monitor that is an excellent upgrade from the non-OLED variant. However, given the price point, it might be best to wait for a 4K version of this, unless you’re coming from something that is far inferior. Also, despite all the mixed reviews on the Tizen OS, it is not at all bothersome and I believe the added processor does positively impact image quality. At the very least, it offers more options for correcting and controlling the HDR image. Lastly, I welcome the added remote. Albeit small, it removes the annoyance of fiddling with the under-monitor controls to change settings. You can lean back and change them easily with the remote. Oh, and the issues people have been having with text legibility, I have not been having. Just use ClearType to calibrate the monitor. I am deducting one star because of its perceived value at this price point: should be a 4K display at this price point, I think.

I’ve been wanting an ultrawide monitor for a while. Then I also wanted to get an OLED monitor since the technology has made a lot of progress. I was deciding between Corsair, LG and this one. I ended up going with this based on a friend’s recommendation. I didn’t think I’d be able to fit it on my desk with a secondary 32″ monitor but it worked out.
I have to say that once everything is set up, the image quality is quite amazing. High quality wallpapers are on a different level and games look great in ultrawide. HDR looked worse at first but using Microsoft’s calibration app improved the image quality considerably.
The monitor has smart features that turn it into a Smart TV. I don’t really care for the features as I already have my own solutions for that. The menus are a bit confusing to get through as there are settings on the TV side and settings on the monitor side.
I do run into an issue that is annoying but not enough to make me return the device. From time to time, when launching a game or waking up the monitor from sleep while the computer is running, it will be stuck on a black screen. The only way to fix it is to do a GPU reset (Win+CTRL+Shift+B) which resets all monitors connected to the GPU.
Despite all that, I’m happy with my purchase. I’m not sure if I’d recommend it to everyone but it definitely has its uses, even outside of gaming.

After watching a ton of reviews and waiting to see what 2024 would bring, I settled on this panel. I waa debating between this, the LG 45” Ultra Gear or the 57” G9. Ultimately this was the one due to its PPI, OLED panel and 240hz refesh rate. I was skeptical at first reading hit or miss reviews but after getting it setup, it was a game changer. I’ve always had ultrawide monitors but going from a 34” to this was a joy. Games are way more immersive, the panel is insanely vibrant and the brightness is perfect without being overly bright. If you’re ever trying to decide on an OLED with a matte finish or glossy one, I would say go for the glossy finish every time to get the most out of it. I have zero issues with reflections. As for why I didn’t go for the 57” G9, even though I think it has the perfect resolution and vertical height, it would take a lot of power to run. I have a 13900k and a 4090 but it would struggle to push that resolution for gaming since it’s even higher than 4k resolution. I think that monitor is perfect for productity though. Hopefully once the 5090 arrives, it will be able to run games on it better. For now the G9 OLED is smooth as butter with it’s 240hz refresh rate. MSI and Gigabyte are all releasing 49” panels this year but only at 144hz at near same price. I’d vouch for Samsung’s panel over those for the money. With the Tizen features as well, you get a little more bang for your buck. It also comes with a remote so tuning the panel’s picture display was a breeze in comparison to typical monitors with a knob on it. Overall I’m super happy with this purchase. I’d say if you’re on the fence, don’t be. It’s worth it.

Hey, I wanted to share my experience with the Odyssey OLED G9 monitor. First off, this thing is a beast when it comes to specs. Picture a 49-inch curved display with an astonishing 5120 x 1440 resolution. Whether I’m gaming or working, this monitor delivers.
If you’re a Macbook M1 user like me, here’s a tip: use the DisplayPort to USB connection to get that full 5120 x 1440 resolution. It’s totally worth it. And don’t forget to use Variable Refresh Rate to keep text looking crystal clear; — there is a difference, no annoying pixelation here.
Now, for PC gaming, the HDMI 2.1 support with 12-bit color depth is a game-changer. I found that using HDMI is the way to go. Just make sure you’ve got the right cables handy.
Once everything’s set up correctly, the clarity is just amazing. Text is super sharp, and the colors are vibrant. Whether I’m in the middle of an intense gaming session or working on projects, the Odyssey OLED G9 impresses.
In my experience, this monitor strikes a perfect balance between gaming and productivity. It’s not just a screen; it’s an immersive experience. If you’re in the market for a versatile monitor, give the Odyssey OLED G9 a serious look. It won’t disappoint.

I upgraded from a UHD 27″ 60Hz screen to the Odyssey G8, then I upgraded again a few months later to this monitor, the Odyssey G9. Theses decisions were made after hours of online research about competing models. I got the monitor for $1,200 during a sale.
It is a beautiful screen, and I love gaming at 240Hz, as the G8 I had before this only reached ~180Hz.
There are moments with real wow-factor, like when playing Cyberpunk, BF2042, BG3. On the other hand, many games don’t support 32:9 aspect ratios, or are not meaningfully enhanced by going fullscreen in 32:9.
In the end of the day, I am very satisfied with my monitor purchase, even with my G8 becoming relegated to a secondary screen. If you have enough money to float this purchase, and you are okay with the extravagant widescreen only enhancing some experiences, I’d recommend it.
My previous upgrade to the G8, and this upgrade to the G9 are part of a larger investment into my gaming setup. I also recently built a PC with high end components. I mention this to advise further on this purchase for other young folks. Roughly a year ago I got my first job in my area of study, at which point I was destitute financially. I badly wanted to upgrade my pc, but I waited and saved until I had a financial safety net of at least 6 months worth of expenses. If I had instead spent on my pc before saving, I would have enjoyed it less, as the security of a backup plan enhances all aspects of life.
When I bought the G9 I was worried about reliability, but my life became better when I decided not to worry about that and to just enjoy the monitor. You really only do live once, so you may as well live in 5120×1440 @240 Hz in HDR.

Huge upgrade coming from a 34” MSI ultrawide monitor! The extra screen real estate with 32:9 is awesome, most games support it and it’s about as close as you can get to VR without a headset. The colors and inky blacks from the OLED are unparalleled. Requires lots of desk space so be sure to measure twice. IO is decent and support for eARC on the HDMI port is a plus. Build quality is excellent as well and love the thin panel design, which again is another OLED advantage. I know most people are on the fence due to burn in risk but so long as your use case is over 75% gaming then I’d definitely pull the trigger. Monitor also has precautions built in to it. If you have the cash and want an upgrade do not hesitate.

I love this monitor! I went with this one because of the sale price. I was trying to get a curved gaming monitor and saw this one on sale. The set up was easy for one person, but you have to be careful about positioning it. A second person to plug it up as I pushed it into place would have been helpful, but I was able to do it with some caution. This monitor comes equipped with Samsung TV capabilities and is amazing. I thought it was just a computer monitor when I bought it. Imagine my pleasant surprise to realize I had a TV and PC all-in-one. It comes with a remote control and has amazing picture quality. The best part was that it dropped again in price the next week and it was easy to get my price match online.
